Our own Brexit - extended play

Seeing we lived through the UK's remain/leave EU referendum vote and the impending demise of the Empire.... We staged our own Brexit.  I think we took about as long as the UK will take to say farewell to the EU.  We had our rounds to make.  So many parties, so little time!

I'm not sure if our Brexit started around 1 July - but we figured we'd combine Canada Day and the process of repatriating on an auspicious note.

Only in the UK can it rain on your picnic and shine sun at the same time.  As for auspicious, I think rain is supposed to be lucky.  Wait, maybe that's on your wedding day. Oh, whatever.

Its OK, Rob, we won't leave until you finish your burger.

How many burgers are you going to eat, Rob?

Where did the burgers go?

The lovely Andrea, decked out in Canadian colours

The English rose's reputation is genuinely earned.  E pinched these from my neighbours' garden!

Yeah, I'm not leaving.

At least not without some pomp and ceremony!

What a tea party!  Anya hosted the most fabulous farewell afternoon tea in her garden - filled with all things English.  (note even the phone case is Cath Kidson florals!)

Our lovely hostess, Anya, and her menu of fabulously homemade treats.  My arteries are flowing better with the elimination of clotted cream from my diet.

Adrian's friends were concerned about getting him re-assimilated to Canadian culture.  The Brits also delight in a kinky obsession for getting into "fancy-dress", or "costumes" as the rest of the world  knows it.  There is definitely some school uniform repression thing going on there.

Adrian getting ready for his re-entry into Canada.  His friends even wore plaid to make him feel at home.

We just had so many things "London" to do for the last time.   A great reason to come back for more.

There were the ladies who lunch.  Another fab meal at Social Eating House with Michelle, Delisa and Sarah.

Dairy Queen's strawberry sundae is something similar...

.....There was lots of food involved in the Brexit....

Amazing food at City Social - Isle of Skye scallops

Delicious cod

Newlyn line caught halibut.  This is how I'd like my fish served all the time!

Really, it was as light as air

Does this beard make me hungrier or look like a chipmunk?

Sarah always has great food recommendations!

Fortnum & Mason's - they've got nothing on King Cole tea.

Having a word with Churchill.  We just want him to know we had a fabulous time!

Not sure the gnome posing as a tea pot has a passport to enter Canada.

Who is supervising whom?

The buzz of Piccadilly Circus.

The horse crossing signs in the city, never fail to crack me up!

Enjoying the evening in Hyde Park... til we got busted and shoo'd away for sitting in the paid seats.

The Gherkin at sunset

The fabulous Regent St.

Nothing like a day out in London with your pal!

So many stores, never enough time with your friends!

Its definitely Pimms O'Clock!!  Only in London!

These guys are too sexy for their shirts.  Not sure the ladies should be shopping at the same time.

Yeah, ok, so maybe they're too sexy for their shirts, but they need to shave their legs.

Yeah, definitely remove the body hair.

Not quite sure what to say about the liveliness of Dave's parties when slugs show up.

Maybe the slugs thought they'd have to do the dishes.

Before the run...

After the run...Last run with the lads.  I can tell Dave will miss me, he looks sad.  Rob, not so much.

I'm here just because I'm so cute in my English garden!

I'm cute too.  Just not in the same way.

Trying to get every last bit of fun out of our tour couldn't stop the inevitable.  The "removal company"  (packers and movers, not a hit mob), boxed everything up.

The impending Brexit - another step closer.

Bet it wasn't Santa's helpers who wrapped it for a surprise.  Lemme guess, I think its a swordfish or a narwhal.

Even the car has left the country!

Lock, stock and barrel.  The sea container is sealed shut!

These suitcases look so sad.... wait a sec, they're packed with party clothes for the Queen Mary 2.  If we're going to Brexit, we're doing it in style!

We'll miss you!

It all seemed so depressing until we checked into the hotel...

Definitely, I could definitely get used to this...

Yippee!!! Rose Champagne - at Grosvenor House.  We're living large, very large!

In Champagne, Don matched his hoity French raspberry and rose maccarons with his clothes. (Champagne blog-entry yet to be posted).  He does it again with rose Champagne and a pink shirt.  Is he afraid of showing stains or confident in his masculinity?

Which one should I take for a spin?

When you can play "SNAP" with Bentleys... you know there is too much money in London

Do we look like we're going to sea, Billy?

It wouldn't be a blog entry without a picture of E falling asleep.  Even Kirky couldn't keep her up. This Brexit-ing is tiring!

Cruel, cruel parents.

We're gonna miss riding the tube.

Stay on the train as we continue with Mind(ing) the Gap on the other side of the pond!!
