| Hitchin' a stylin' ride |
I've become soft and no longer hearty enough for enduring a frigid, snowy Canadian winter without respite in the sun. So, as pasty-white Vitamin D deprived northern folks do, we snow-birded to the Caribbean sun and sand.
Our lovely cousin, Rozita, planned another escape for us. Having never been to Cuba, we werepromised soft sandy beaches and they didn't disappoint!
The resort had a lovely pool,
but this isn't what we came for!!! |
Ahhhh, heat, sun!!
This is what we came for!! |
It is easy styling a Mermaid
Beautiful purple coral fan washed up on shore
Shallow turquoise warm water and azure skies let us at low tide from the resort's beach to the "Hairy Back Iguana Rock" point on a 20 minute walk to discover an empty beach of sand dunes and cresting waves. We called it the Wavy Beach and had lots of fun swimming and playing there almost every day.
| Hairy Back Iguana Rock.... and our own private beach around the point!! |
Don't tell anyone about it!
Otherwise it won't be a secret beach! |
| All to ourselves!!! |
Hey, Don,
why isn't the water at Pye's Head this warm? You know, I'd actually want to spend more time there if the icebergs weren't in the way of swimming
| The slight lavender of the sky, pinky sands and turquoise waters were postcard perfect |
We had lots of fun, and some close calls....
I had better hold his hand, he sinks
I'll save you Dad!!
| Uh oh, I think I lost him... |
| Got him back, but he needed some rest after that |
| That was a lot of work to pull him to safety.... |
Actually, I feel a nap coming on too....
Ah, this is good....
| This is better - Burrito Baby..... |
Getting some beauty sleep.
After all, I am a Mermaid... |
| See, all that beauty sleep worked! |
| I'm so happy Grandmaman and Grampy came too! |
| Grandmaman hitting her stride. I think she was hitting the Mojitos |
Just another day in the sun, on the beach, with nothing better to do than read a book and apply more sunscreen.
For a little excitement wild life excitement there were 2 legs, 4 legs, birds of prey, pretty birds....
Polly want a cracker...
or at least a ride |
I am so good at posing for pictures!
The gardener wasn't bad either..... :)
| On the way to breakfast one morning..... look closely..... |
Was this dinner tonight?
Wild boar on the menu?!! |
| You go get it! |
Fern, I don't know about eating that boar.
Think it has trichinosis? Maybe I'll have fish. |
| Waiting for dinner.... |
Its a bird, its a plane its a....
Sears catalogue pose. |
Ah, a surge of energy coming on...
or maybe that's a nap
Poof! Where did they go?
Their hats are still here?
HONEY, I shrunk the IN-LAWS |
E thought it looked like a peace sign. She always finds the beauty in everything |

| In case you were getting bored with sand and sea, my pedicured toes provide a distraction |
We have matching hats and temperaments |
Have I got enough attitude?
| Aren't we just cute? |
Evening entertainment watching the barmen
make flambeed Spanish coffees.
Not recommended before bed if you want to sleep |
Big fish in the sea.
Actually a cool sculpture made of horseshoes! |
| Where's Waldo - or Adrian? |
It turned a little windy our last day,
and suffering from a defective cold-endurance gene, I needed to bundle up. |
Yeah, I hear ya, I'm a wimp,
but you guys moved to the pool |
| Adios Cuba! |
It just wouldn't be a trip
without E falling asleep at the end...
That girl can sleep! |
