The Sound of the Ocean

While the dark wet days of November lash bitterness on us, I'm taking refuge in some summer memories.  Not that I want to rewind any of 2020, but a bit of summer's sun might carry us through the rest of this year.

How's this for motivation
to get on with your work day?!
I am fortunate and grateful for a place to escape - by the very therapeutic Nova Scotia seaside. With self-isolation rules in place, I worked from home for the first 14 days.  Home just happened to be at mycottage with this as an office view.

A deer sighting
on a foggy work day

Who minded working
late with this sunset?

We kept busy while self- isolating....

E kept her creative juices
flowing
with sewing projects

E tackled the garden shed....
Marie Kondo style!!

E has a professional
organizing future!

Adrian travelled
with his sourdough starter,
named Elmo,
and made bread

Tired of the same old 3 of us,
I tried to bring a guest  to dinner.
Nobody wanted the moustachio.

I lost my prescription glasses in the grass
The lawn mower found them
All 3 pieces

Nature create a perfect stepping stone
Training would be required.
That honkin' heavy square stone had to get back
to the cottage.

My brother
For real

Ugh, one more...

How much does this weigh?
Gotta get it from the beach,
up the hill
and over to the deck?

This is a grunt,
not a smile

Yabadaba doo!
Now I've just made it easier
for Kelly to steal it

Evidence that the ocean is therapeutic!
Look at how my average
heart beat per minute dropped to 51!
The rewards of exercise
or life by the ocean?

There were other rewards too!

We entertained ourselves...

... with reading
 the de-humidifier upside down.
It was talking Canadian, eh?

Or if was 34%, it would have been describing 2020...

Spotting the special in the ordinary...

Breathe in the blue sky and sea salt

Nature's beauty is still a constant

Proof that love
grows in a garden

And that Grampy
is feeding radishes steroids

We watched sunsets

Oh there are more...many more...
how can I resist posting these skies?

The trees looked like they were on fire.

Counted another COVID full moon.... how many now?

Once allowed back into the wild, we went a little wild.  Headed to the big town to ready ourselves for the rest of the stay.

Beer and a BBQ -
what else were we going to need?

All assembled and ready to grill....
tofu!

Nope, I'm not really going
to eat tofu you know

Stay for dinner?

Hmm, was thinking something
...a bit bigger

Just for the halibut,
that's what a BBQ is for

I'm good.
I'm just eating food
that matches my hair

oh oh!
My family matches my hair

But the best part was that I got to hug my family once we were "free"!

Aunt Marilyn, 81, the shortest in the family
and E, 14, the tallest in the family
Photobombed by Grampy

A little closer in height!

Let the scenes of summer at the cottage begin!

Some days,
it is wet

And some days,
 getting wet is more fun

Fun with the cousins!
R, W, Small, Medium & Large

Can we get some speed please!

So independent, she even made her own cake!
My baby has been
coming to the cottage
since she was in my womb!

Wee bit bigger than
the 8lbs she came out as

Two for the price of one!  We made sure we capitalized on connecting with friends!

Blessed to see Helen and John in Halifax
and at the cottage!
Two visits!
It was too windy to fly a kite?!

Two visits with Karen-Anne too!
